Face Value

Logline
Identical twins separated at birth only find out years later, when their birth father becomes rich, and, when one of them dies unexpectedly, his family, friends and police embark on a joint investigation that will take them all the way to a shattering climax overlooking an Icelandic volcano, but the real fireworks are yet to come.
Synopsis
Daniele Alessandro is gunned down outside the Italian restaurant his mother and father, Rosa and Salvatore, have booked for his twenty-first birthday. The body is taken away by the killers. The only reason Danny came out of hiding is that his parents also had an important announcement to make, which is not revealed.
A body is found in the Thames. Detective Saul Freedman is given the case. He tells Danny's parents, who have to identify the body. The body is badly burned and the face unidentifiable, but has Danny's clothes and things. Detective Freedman says that the Mafia often do that to bodies, because Catholic funerals usually have open coffins.
Later, Rosa reveals to Detective Freedman that Danny has a twin brother, now called Brendan. They were separated at birth and their birth father recently became rich, when a song he wrote was re-released and became a huge hit. Danny's best friends Jules and Flick are also there for the announcement.
The police, Danny's friends and family all embark on their own investigation. When Detective Freedman finds out that Danny's friend Freddie O'Neill has links to organised crime, the FBI become involved in the shape of Vivienne Bain, who quickly develops a rapport with Detective Freedman.
Rosa goes to Iceland, without telling her husband, to break the news to Danny's birth parents, Elijah and Bea, who she has always kept in touch with. Jules and Flick also find out where Danny's parents are, through an internet agency. They too go to Iceland, but get there to find that Elijah and Bea are not there.
Danny's birth parents are kidnapped by Freddie O'Neill. When first Danny comes back from the dead, then, in quick succession, Brendan turns up in London, all trails lead to Iceland, for a shattering denouement overlooking a volcano that has decided to get in on the act. Elijah and Bea are killed, apparently at the hands of Freddie O'Neill.
With their birth parents dead, reunited twins Danny and Brendan settle back to enjoy their inheritance, but the real fireworks are yet to come.
